Sorcerer's Apprentice Comic

In 1953 Paul Murray did a comic-book version of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" episode from Fantasia. Michael Sporn has published a scan of it HERE (lower half of the page).

  1. Bill, I just read your paper "Computational Linguistics and the Humanist" (1976).

It was sent to me by Mike Caprio. I've always been interested in programming a computer to write a book.

Your paper was clear and illuminating with lots of great pathways to further reading, thank you!

  2. Note that the world of computational linguistics has changed A LOT since then. The tech behind IBM's Watson is different from anything we'd imagined back in '76. It's based on statistical principles. The next step forward, I believe, is to blend this statistical tech with the older hand-coded rule-based tech.
