Lost in Space – A short note about a crucial distinction [Media Notes 29]

I’m now nine episodes (out of ten) into a rewatch of the first season of the 2018 remake of Lost in Space. One distinction that various characters have to make is between their personal feelings about a character and what is good for the mission. In various episodes various characters have had reason to dislike another character. But subsequent events require them to look past that dislike for the good of the mission. Members of the Robinson’s have to do this, but other characters have to do with respect to a Robinson.

Think of this as a distinction that’s important to living in a social group. It requires a distinction between a personal relationship and a role within the group.
