Duke Ellington and Leonard Bernstein chat about "the cultural explosion" [Dick Cavett bonus]

You can listen to the full interview (26 minutes) here. He has some interesting remarks on spontaneity and improvisation starting at about 19:30, including how Coleman Hawkins' recording of "Body and Soul" got him trapped in that solo for years.

Here Ellington talks with Dick Cavett, starting with growl trumpet and moving to plunger mute and so on.
