This conversation took place in 2015. Peter Thiel is, as I'm sure you know, a venture capitalist (first outside investor in Facebook), a libertarian, a Girardian, and a Trump supporter (at least until recently: I hear, but can offer no citation, that he's not been happy about Trump's handing of the pandemic). Graeber is trained as an anthropologist, is known for his major book, Debt, for supporting the Occupy movement, and is an anarchist. Both Thiel and Graeber feel that we've missed the boat on technology and both regard the university system as a disaster. It's an interesting conjunction of views.
