Psyched to share the first results from a ~7yr journey, from an email I sent to @Nancy_Kanwisher in 2014 about an idea to develop lang(uage) 'localizers' for as many of the world's langs as possible to having fMRI data from native speakers of 45 langs. https://t.co/tPSp0rgNHk 1/n pic.twitter.com/OrvWvP2KOt

So:1️⃣We made lang 'localizers' (paradigms for identifying the lang network in ind brains) for 45 langs across 11 fams: passages from AliceinW (narrated by females for 👶friendliness for future devel work) and acoust. degraded versions (@TerriLynnScott https://t.co/gOQhYYrl0t) 6/n

What we found: The general topography of the lang network is remarkably consistent across langs. 👆 (The variability we see is comparable to the variability we (and now others; e.g., @RodBraga) have been seeing for years in English native speakers.) 8/n
