Scaling up is NOT sufficient to get us all the way to the top of Mount AGI (whatever the hell that is). We need other techniques, other architectures. What if Silicon Valley burrows deep into the rabbit's hole of Sunk Costs while various geniuses in India, China, Japan, and – yes, why not? – Africa come-up with new tech?
In 20 years the Silicon Valley Sphere of AI Influence is burning up Ziggawatts of nuclear-generated electricity to service its creaky old Mesozoic Dinosaur Models while the rest of the world is running circles around SVSAI with their Cenozoic Mammalian Speedsters powered by the sun, the wind, and those pesky Energizer batteries.
Word!
At ValueSpring we think the Chineese have been successfully misled into the deadend of LLM AGI. This is a big win for Western tech and speaks to the deep game that DARPA and CIA are playing. We believe the future will be battery powered, most likely double A.
ReplyDeleteWhat about computer in a can? Spray it on any surface and you have a keyboard and monitor in an instant.

"NVIDIA are claiming huge efficiency gains. "Nvidia claims to have delivered a 45,000 improvement in energy efficiency per token (a unit of data processed by AI models) over the past eight years" - and that "training a 1.8 trillion-parameter model using Blackwell GPUs, which only required 4MW, versus 15MW using the previous Hopper architecture".

It will be like Snow Crash. My avatar - low cost - will have low fidelity and slow processing. Like a cheap car. Rich.... the compute is the only limit.
